“Go set the table.” Four words regularly heard by kids everywhere. Growing up, my sister and I were no exception. But where others probably let out a little groan, we eagerly awaited our chance to create a table experience. From generations-old antiques, to cute new local finds, our Mom and Grandma’s vast collections of plates and silverware meant we had seemingly endless options to choose from. A trained florist, our Grandma always had an arrangement on her kitchen counter or in the center of her dining room table—beautiful organic creations often crafted from the tropical plants and ferns growing in her yard. Combined, these different pieces came together to turn the everyday task of setting the table into anything but a chore.

This passion came to a head years later when I began dining at home way more than usual. Together with my husband, whose family also shares a love for tablescaping, we quickly realized the thing that brought excitement to our tried-and-true recipes and go-to delivery orders was sifting through the linen collection, reaching for those “rarely used” plates, and creating a story. And just like that, an idea was born. The chance to once again “go set the table.”
